With Marvel relaunching itself into the toilet, here's some good news in the form of Daredevil season two.
We get our first looks at Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle the Punisher (!!!!) and Elodie Yung as Elektra (double !!!!), and the anticipation for the new season to drop -- sometime in 2016 -- is growing at an unhealthy rate.
The trailer leaked online from New York City Comic-Con and links have been getting pulled off the internet quicker than Hulk Hogan's sex tape, but luckily I was able to grab a glimpse thanks to Twitter -- of the trailer and not the sex tape.
This teaser might as well be titled "Oh sh*t, this is going to get dark," because my goodness they made Punisher look terrifying in this quick 30-second trailer.
We hear Matt Murdoch asking "Father, why do I still feel guilty." Daredevil and the pastor continue talking as we get classic thriller music as we see glimpses of Foggy, Rosario Dawson and an x-ray which just happens to resemble Punisher's logo. We don't even catch a glimpse of Castle's face, we just see shell casings, Punisher walking through what appears to be the hallways of a hospital and him saying "bang" as the teaser trailer fades out.
I don't know about you guys and gals, but ever since Bernthal was announced as Punisher, I have been freaking ecstatic. He has claimed to really research the character and dig deep, and I'm hoping he brings a great portrayal of Castle.
If he can work a little Shane from the Walking Dead into this character, then my God, this show will have somehow gotten more gritty and dark. I'm about to drop a hot take here, I love The Flash and Arrow, but they've got nothing on Netflix's Daredevil. This series is seemingly just going to keep getting better, and the only thing I am concerned with is the growing cast. I hope they can avoid overstuffing the cast because I thought the pace, flow and plots of each individual episode were very well done in the first season.
I'm going to do my best to keep a working link in this post:
