Welcome back, Frank: First look at Jon Bernthal in Daredevil is a doozy

I never had any doubts about Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, but now any possible ones buried deep in my subconscious have been completely erased.

Not only does the actor famous for his role as Shane in "The Walking Dead" look the part and all of that, but it seems as if the show is recreating the amazing Garth Ennis scene "Welcome back, Frank."

For those who aren't sure what I'm talking about, Daredevil is seen chained to a post as Punisher wields a wrench and gun in a tense conversation stand-off scene. When reflecting on Bernthal's past work with portraying intense badasses, I'm convinced that he's the only man out there who can play Frank Castle. I'm done swooning now.

There are so many good things about this picture:

First off, THEY ARE ACTUALLY DOING THIS SCENE!

Second, look at Bernthal. God, we are finally getting a screen-worthy Frank Castle. He's got the intensity, that crazy side and the look. His facial expression in this scene captures the emotion from the source material to a T, and that's what we -- or, at least, I -- can appreciate the most from this snippet of a sneak peak.

I'm not going to dig too deep, but this is a scene that tests Matt Murdock's code more than any arc/scene that I can recall. Castle knocks DD out, ties him to a post, puts a gun in his hands and basically says, "kill me, or I'm killing this dude right here in front of you."

It's a powerful scene, and I highly recommend grabbing this arc before season two drops in 2016. There are some photos of Elektra in addition to Murdock and Karen schmucking it up, but I'm here to talk about the Punisher. If you want to check those other photos out, click here.

I'm curious to see how they handle continuity between the aforementioned arc and Bernthal's role because the Punisher from the source material is a little older and -- somehow -- more rugged. Either way, I'm confident in his ability to channel his inner madman vigilante.
