It was quick, but fun.
Stephen Amell laced up his boots, donned a Green Arrow costume and stepped into the squared circle with Neville to take on Stardust and King Barrett.
He gave the fans reason to take him serious with an impressive hip drop, a uber-athletic enziguri and a leap from the top rope to the outside.
Oh yeah, and Amell's entrance in the match was freaking fantastic.
Neville and Amell won after a couple of insane high-flying moves from the top ropes. For the wrestling fans, it was one of the better celebrity matches (especially considering the past decade).
For the comic fans, it was fun. WWE beat the shit out of the corny comic book terms and names, but they did a good job making a fun little pre-match promo video.
Amell, who plays Oliver Queen on the CW's "Arrow," had been trying to get into a WWE ring for more than a year, and as a comic and wrasslin' fan, I'm glad he did.
(so is he)
Neville was a perfect partner for him. Barrett and Stardust were perfect opponents for what WWE was trying to accomplish. Neville and Stardust have the comic bookie gimmicks and Barrett is a big powerhouse.
The best aspect of all of this was the fact you could tell Amell was having fun. You can tell he's a fan and respected the craft.
As a wrestling fan, I'd welcome him back with open arms.
