Here I am, just minding my own business on a Saturday afternoon watching the 1995 Royal Rumble, when Netflix and Marvel just happened to drop some monumental news.
Jon Bernthal's Punisher will get its own Netfilx original series following his impeding appearance in season two of Daredevil. This is fantastic news as The Punisher has deserved a second chance at on-screen reincarnation and they couldn't have found a more fitting lead than Bernthal.
He's got the look, edginess and the name recognition to make people outside of the comic realm to care about this character, and that's what is most important.
While Netflix and Marvel representatives have yet to comment, TVLine reports that show is in the development stages.
While there isn't cold hard confirmation yet, Daredevil showrunner Doug Petrie has basically said that shit gets going really quick with Punisher in season two of DD.
Petrie and Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada have hyped Berntha's portrayal of Frank Castle, saying fans will be "blown away" by it.
We get out first look at Bernthal as Frank Castle when Daredevil returns to Netflix March 18th. Stay tuned for more updates.
Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the Defenders are reportedly still safe.
The Court of Nerds reacted accordingly.
Droo: FUCKIN FUCK YEAH. I'm stuck at (don't hate) GameStop trading in 600 Skylanders with Isaac but this is awesome news.
Emily: That gave me a mad boner just now.
That's my reaction
Gregg: My only problem with this ..
Ben: Is the size of your boner?
Gregg: Because it sounds fucking excellent, and makes me all kinds of excited to see Bernthal take this character on...
It spoils that there will be a relatively happy ending to Daredevil vs Punisher.
At least a truce. Now we know it will happen.
Droo: If we're looking for a worry, it's that this pushes Iron Fist further down the priority list. Which sucks.
(Grant? Where are you?)
Grant: It's really hard to type and masturbate
There he is.
