Robert Downey Jr. reportedly signs on for 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Robert Downey Jr. will appear as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the upcoming "Spider-Man: Homecoming" movie.

The movie is expected to build off of the relationship between Tony Stark and Peter Parker from Captain America: Civil War. So far, we've got Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Zendaya as something and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.

Michael Keaton rumors remain just that, as of this writing.

If this means anything, it's clear that Sony and Marvel are going to be working much closer than any of us could've wildly imagined. This is good for the fans, and in turn will be good for Sony.

The size of Downey Jr.'s role has not been confirmed, but you would have to imagine he'd get some decent screen time for the assumed cost Sony and Marvel are paying.
