Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino reportedly joins 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' cast

Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino has reportedly joined the cast of 'Spider-Man: Homecoming.'

This is not a test, this is not April Fool's Day, this is real life.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that there are no further details regarding what Glover might play, but the talks have advanced far enough for THR to state Glover has joined the cast.

As a long darkhorse favorite to play Spider-Man -- whether Peter Parker or Miles Morales --, this is extremely welcome news to Spidey fans. Glover has proven himself as a comedian, rapper, writer and actor whether serious, dark or ridiculously funny as seen in "Community."

There was a grassroots campaign for Glover back in 2012, so seeing his name attached to the hotly anticipated upcoming Spider-Man flick somehow adds more momentum. Seriously, go see Civil War again for Tom Holland's Peter Parker/Spider alone.

So far, we've got Holland as Parker/Web-Head, Michael Keaton as a bad guy, Marisa Tomei as Hot Aunt May and Zendaya doing something.

Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige are producing with Jon Watts directing. Spider-Man's second reboot and third franchise in 15 years is set to release July 7, 2017.
