Top comic book pulls for Wednesday, Aug. 10

In what is becoming as consistent of a weekly column as Marvel's editorial strategy, here are our top comic book picks for Wednesday, Aug. 10.

We will highlight what the publisher is pushing and may even give our own two-cents on the book if it so warrants.

THE FLASH #4 $2.99
Written by Joshua Williamson
Art by Neil Googe and Ivan Plascencia

DC's Take: "'Lightning Strikes Twice' part four! The leader of the science-terrorist group Black Hole has weaponized the Speed Force, leading to a final confrontation with The Flash and his new league of citizen speedsters."

Our take: START READING THIS SERIES IF YOU AREN'T. Here, let these do the talking:

Comic Review: The Flash #1

Comic Review: The Flash #2

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #16 $3.99
Written by Dan Slott
Art by Giuseppe Camuncoli

Marvel's take: BEFORE 'DEAD NO MORE'! * There's an accident at Parker Industries! * What will Peter Parker do to save his employees, both as CEO AND Spider-Man?! Rated T

Our take: I've fallen off my Spider-Man game, as of late, due to a number of factors including new day job, I moved and DC dropping 600 books each week. But, this is the week where I get back on track, so won't you share this dance with me?

If not for anything else, it's got a pretty Alex Ross cover.

ALL-STAR BATMAN #1 $4.99
Written by Scott Snyder
Art by John Romita Jr. and Declan Shalvey

DC's take: "'My Own Worst Enemy' part one! Superstar writer Scott Snyder explodes into an all-new Batman series alongside legendary artist John Romita Jr., reimagining some of the Dark Knight's greatest villains. First up: Two-Face! Batman must take Two-Face to a destination out of Gotham City, but the duplicitous villain has a two of spades up his sleeve. Every assassin, bounty hunter and ordinary citizen with something to hide is on their tails with one goal: kill Batman! Handcuffed together on the road to hell, this is Batman and Two-Face as you've never seen them before!"

Our take: Snyder, Romita Jr. and Shalvey just feels like an all-star lineup. Yeah, we're checking this one out even if it's pushing $5.
