"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" is one of those movies where you go in expecting a lot of thrills/stupid to be built on not that much of a backstory. so when there's not enough stupid or thrills to go along with the paper-thin backstory, the end result is going to be kind of flat.
That's exactly what this installment was to me, flat. It existed. There were dinosaurs. (There will also be some spoilers)
Chris Pratt's character is basically Chris Pratt (I think his name is Owen?) with a mustache and affection of dinosaurs. I have no idea what Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) is supposed to be in this movie? What is her job, where is she based, what legislation is she actually pursuing to saves dinos? I couldn't tell you.
They find an interesting little hook to the past to make for an interesting storyline, but then fail to build upon it or to even do that much with it, to be honest. Instead we get to watch dinosaurs be animal trafficked and tortured instead of watching them chase humans.
"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" is unfortunately one of those movies that just falls flat. There isn't enough fun to make up for stupid, and the level of thrills was at an all-time high. Oh, and one major beef here, everything Jeff Goldblum does in this movie was shown in the trailer.
They played us all on that one.
I give "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" the grade of COMPLETE. It existed, there was some fun, neat dinosaurs, and the always enjoyable/funny Chris Pratt. This will make a buttload of money, but it might come away as the weakest installment of the franchise when it's all said and done.
